The Machinery, boilers and pressure vessels and associated piping systems and fittings shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended. PSCO discovered 03 of 06 main engine cylinders steadily leaking jacket water. 01 cylinder is leaking more significantly than the rest at a rate of 25-30 drops every 10 seconds.

Resolution: Class surveyor confirmed once main engine heated to above 68 celcius no leakage was detected after tests.

The machinery and associated piping systems and fittings shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended. The design shall have regard to the working conditions to which it will be subjected and enviornmental conditions on board. PSCO discovered the hydraulic system for the hatch covers had leaked oil into the BOSUN STORES. The oil covered the I-beams above the system, the hoses, and outer casing, as well as the containment area.

Resolution: Crew cleaned and removed oil in bosun store and retightened the connections. Class surveyor confirmed no leakage was found after testing.

The condition of the ship and its equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that the ship in all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea. Sludge pump associated with ships incinerator is broken and ship cannot currently burn sludge. Replacement part has been ordered and ship is to repair part in New Orleans.

0618-Stowage of rescue boat-Rescue boast shall be stowed in a state of continuous readiness for launching in not more that 5 minutes, and if the inflated type in a fully inflated condition at all times. PSCO's noted that the inflatable rescue boat was not maintained at full air pressure. Crew added air and there didn't appear to be any visible leakage. SOLAS(14) III/14 10c

0635-launching arrangtments for rescue boat-Rescue boast shall be stowed in a state of continuous readiness for launching in not more that 5 minutes, alaunching appoicance shall not depend on any means other than gravity or stored mechanical power. PSCO noted that the davit was stored 180 degrees away from rescue boat. Crew adjusted the tie down height. SOLAS(14) III/14 LSA VI/6.1.1.3 10c

Resolution: Crew adjusted the tie down height to align closer with the lifting point to the rescue boat to met standars while PSCO's were still on board the vessel.
