While getting underway outbound from the Port of Lake Charles, the vessel experienced a reduction in propulsion.

08104-Steering Gear Alarm-In the event of a failure of electrical power supply to the control system, an audible and visual alarm shall be given on the navigation bridge. PSCO observed that the audible steering gear no volt alarm was not operational on the navigation bridge at the time of inspection. The vessels master stated that the problem was noted previously and found to be a loose connection in the alarm circuit. 74 SOLAS (14) II-1/29.8.4 16 a.c.
