The condition of the ship and its equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that the ship in all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to the ship or persons on board. While inbound to Delaware Bay, DE, during pre-arrival checks the master reported that the engine order telegraph control from the bridge was malfunctioning. Ensure vessel has two satisfactory independent means for communicating orders from the navigation bridge to the position in the machinery space or in the engine control room prior to departure from the Sector Delaware Bay OCMI zone.
