In a ship in which oil fuel is used, the arragements for the storage, distribution, and utilization of the oil fuel shall be such as to ensure the safety of the ship and persons on board. It was reported to the PSCO that there were significant fuel oil leaks on the Ship's Service Generators in way of the fuel pump assemblies, reported to be producing an excess amount of waste diesel, accumulating in the fuel oil overflow tank.

0628- Stowage of Liferafts- Each life raft or group of liferafts shall be stowed with a float-free arrangement complying with the requirements of the LSA Code that each floats free and if inflatable, inflates automatically when the ship sinks. The PSCO observed the painter attached directly to the liferaft cradle preventing the proper operation of the float free device. The Chief Mate corrected the painter arrangements on the spot. 74 SOLAS(14) III/13 10c
