Means shall be provided whereby normal operation of propulsion machinery can be sustained or restored even though one of the essential auxilaries become inoperative. PSCDO receieved report via VTS that vessel discvered equipment failure for the STBD azipod during pre-departure checks.

Escape doors from public spaces that are normally latched shall be fitted with a means of quick release. Such means shall consist of a door-latching mechanism incorporating a device that releases the latch upon the application of a force in the direction of escape flow. PSCO observed multiple twist locks in the means of escape in each door of the kids club. In addition, there were two glass doors in the means of escape that could only be opened with the intervention of cruise ship personnel from the service desk.

Fire doors in main vertical zone bulkheads, galley boundaries and stairway enclosures, double-leaf doors equipped with a latch necessary for their fire integrity shall have a latch that is automatically activated by the operation of the doors when released by the system. PSCO observed double leaf door FD3-2-13 adjacent to main laundry did not close in sequence, preventing the door from closing completely.

General arrangement plans shall be permanently exhibited for the guidance of the ship's officers, showing clearly for each deck the control stations, the various fire sections enclosed by "A" class divisions, the sections enclosed by "B" class divisions together with particulars of the fire detection and fire alarm systems, the sprinkler installation, the fire-extinguishing appliances, means of access to different compartments, decks, etc. Fire control plan shows category "A" fire boundary for ventilation room on 19th deck. The category "A" boundary has a door which has since been removed from the bulkhead. 74 SOLAS 20 II-2/15.2.4.1

Guard rails fitted on superstructure and freeboard decks shall have at least three courses. The opening below the lowest course of the guard rails shall not exceed 230 mm. The other courses shall not be more than 380mm apart. Glass used in lieu of courses for railings on open pool deck on deck 14 port side and deck 7 starboard in vicinity of rescue boat cracked.

Fire doors in main vertical zone bulkheads, galley boundaries and stairway enclosures shall be self-closing and be capable of closing with an angle of inclination of up to 3.5 opposing closure. Several doors were unable to self-close and were then rectified. The doors were FD-18-2-10, ST Locker 1469/1240/1241/1320/1319. 74 SOLAS 20 II-2/9.4.1.1.5.1

Main galley on deck 5, aft experienced a fire at a soup station causing damage to the tilting skillet. During the fire both CO2 and Hi-Fog deployed. Have class attest to the damage to the galley and provide a class report. Also provide report to the service of the CO2 bottle that deployed. SOLAS (14) CH II-2 reg 11. SOLAS CH I reg 11.
