The condition of the ship and its equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that the ship in all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to the ship or persons on board. Vessel Main Diesel Engine (MDE) experienced malfunction while transiting Delaware river; Vessel to investigate cause, make proper repairs to the satisfaction of Class.

Resolution: It was discovered that No.1 Aft fuel injector was not working properly, it caused the No.1 exhaust temperature deviation alarm and subsequently engine slowdown activated. The defective fuel injector was replaced, See attached:CHINOOK_CLASS_Report_2165470

Cargo tanks 3 and 4 presently have serial # 38002 whereas set and seal certificate has serial # 381840. IGC(93) 8.2.5.

Cargo tank pressure relief valve vent exits should be arranged at a distance at least equal to B or 25 meters, which ever is less, from the nearest air intake or opening to accomodation spaces or other gas safe spaces. The vent mast for cargo tank #4, aft of the electric motor room, does not meet 25 meter distance requirement. Flag equivalence determined insufficient evidence of compliance with 46 CFR 154.32. This deficiency is issued with a due date of 6 months from the vessel's arrival to the U.S. (12DEC17) in accordance with MSC letter C1-1703637 dated 22SEP17.
