Means shall be provided wherby normal operation of propulsion machinery can be sustained or restored even though one of the essential auxiliaries becomes inoperative. Special consideration shall be given to the malfunctioning of the sources of lubricating oil pressure. After recieving report of a loss of propulsion PSCO observed number two lube oil pump for main diesel engine inoperative. 74 Solas (20) II-I/ 26.3.5

The master, owner, operator, agent, or person in charge of a vessel equipped with ballast tanks that operates in the water of the United States must employ one of the following ballast water management methods. Vessel is required to employ one of the methods described in 33 cfr 151.2025(a). While operating in local Mississippi River vessel took on and discharged ballast water without the use of the onboard ballast water treatment system required by 33 cfr 151.2025(a)(1).
