A vessel must be operated in accordance with applicable
laws and regulations and in such a manner as to afford
adequate precaution against hazards that might endanger
the vessel and the persons being transported. While
attempting to dewater port E/R it was apparent that crew
was unfamiliar with system. Numerous attempts were made
prior to correctly lining up valves of installed bilge
system. Training was conducted by Master and Crew and
training on the installed bilge system will be conducted
during future drills to ensure familiarity. CLEARED ON
THE SPOT.

purpose intended. All machinery and equipment must be
installed and maintained in such a manner as to afford
adequate protection from causing fire, explosion,
machinery failure, and personnel injury. While
conducting an inspection of the vessel’s shaft bearings,
it was noted that the portside shaft bearing was
cracked and showing signs of de-lamination from the
metal housing. Replace unsatisfactory bearings to
satisfaction of attending Marine Inspector prior to 2022 operating season.
