Before the ship leaves port and at all times during the voyage, all life-saving appliances shall be in working order and ready for immediate use. During steering test of the lifeboat, the steering cable experienced a catastrophic failure of separated from the steering wheel leaving the steering mechanism innoperable.74 SOLAS (2020) III/20.2
Action required: 10 - Deficiency Rectified
Resolved 23 January 2024
Resolution: Vessel personnel installed a broken bolt that was found to be broken during troubleshooting. System tested with satisfactory results.
