THE CONDITION OF THE SHIP AND ITS EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE MAINTAINED TO CONFROM WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE CODE TO ENSURE THAT THE SHIP WILL REMAIN FIT TO PROCEED TO SEA WITHOUT DANGER TO THE SHIP OR PERSONS ON BOARD. AFTER THE VESSEL REPLACED GAS DETECTION SENSORS, NEW PROCEDTURES FOR THE ELECTRO-CHEMICAL SENSORS WERE NOT ADDED TO THE OPERATIONS MANUAL. DURING THE INSPECTION SHIPS CREW WERE NOT ABLE TO CALIBRATE THE EQUIPMENT FOLLOWING THEIR ESTABLISHED PROCEDURES. 74 SOLAS (14) VII/13.1; IGC CODE 1.5.3.1 10c

Resolution: Vessel is able to charge 2 fire hoses and deck water spray with 5 bar pressure to clear open deficiency. Vessel to effectuate permanent repairs to deck water spray pump.

1850-Fire Protection Cargo Deck Area- On ships carrying flammable or toxic products or both, a water-spray system for cooling fire prevention and crew protection should be installed. Upon operating the deck water-spray system, discovered 50% of the nozzles ovethe port & starboard manifolds, all nozzles forward of the #2 cargo tank and over the vaporizer did not function. IGC 11.3.1
