Electrical installations shall be such that: the safety of passengers, crew and ship from electrical hazards will be ensured. PSCO observed both steering gear motor controllers not able to have power secured as designed. The linkage from the external switch and the breaker was removed and power was secured only by unlocking the cabinet and using an adjustable wrench to change the breakers position. 74SOLAS(14)40.1.2 16a.c.

Any entrance to such a storage room shall preferably be from the open deck and shall be independent of the protected space.
