Oil filtering equipment referred to in Paragraph 1 of this regulation shall be of a design and approved by the Adminstration and shall be such as will ensure that any oily mixture discharged into the sea after passing through the syatem had an oil content not exceeding 15 ppm. The approval should take the form of a certificate of type approval specifying the main particulars of the apparatus and any limiting conditions on its usage necessary to ensure its proper performance. 1400- Propulsion and Machinery- The machinery, boilers and other pressure vessels, associated piping systems and fittings shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended and shall be so installed and protected as to reduce to a minimum any danger to persons on board. The vessel experienced a reduction in propulsion while transiting the navigable waters of the United States which adversely sffected its maneuverability and posed a hazard to vessels and infrastructure along the Houston Ship Channel. 74 Solas(14) II-1/26
