Alarms for gas sampling systems should be activated when the vapor concentration reaches the threshold limiting value. During testing of the ammonia sensor while the ship was discharging ammonia cargo, the sensor was unable to be calibrated by the crew. Crew replaced sensor and conducted calibration in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. PSCO witnessed successful calibration. Recommend third party calibration in accordance with company policy as soon as practicable. 74SOLAS(14) Ch. VII/Reg 13 IGC 1993 Ch. 17.9
