If a survival craft is recovered by any means using power, including a portable power source,safety devices must be provided that automatically cut off the power before the davit arms or falls reach the stops in order to avoid over-stressing the falls or davits, unless the motor is designed to prevent such over-stressing. Vessel's New Construction SOLAS Lifeboat Exemption Request dated 13MAY2016, requires for lifesaving equipment to provide an aggregate capacity for 336% of the total number persons onboard requested at 149 total persons. Considering life raft capacity of 135 persons port side and 145 persons starboard side, the maximum number of persons allowed on board while on an international voyage is constrained to 80 persons. SOLAS 74 (14)III/21.1.1.1 -16C
