The grab line shall be 3/8-inch diameter polyethylene, polypropylene, or other suitable buoyant type synthetic material having a minimum breaking strength of 1,350 pounds. The ring life buoys found on the upper deck and the forward main deck had deteriorated grab lines and must be replaced.

The procedures to be followed in notifying the Coast Guard about the vessel repairs vary according to the type of vessel and service in which engaged. Vessel owner/operator notified CG that the vessel suffered damage due to Hurricane Sally in accordance with applicable regulatory cite. Vessel must make permanent repair/alteration to the satisfaction of the OCMI in accordance with 46 CFR 176.700(a) prior to operating / carriage of passengers.
