Before the ship leaves port and at all times during the voyage all lifesaving appliances shall be in working order and ready for immediate use. PSCO observed 04 lifebuoys with self igniting lights installed improperly preventing self ignition. 74SOLAS(20) III/20.2

Not less than one half of the total number of lifebuoys shall be provided with lifebuoy self igniting lights complying with the requirements of paragraph 2.1.2 of the code. PSCO observed self igniting lights rigged in a manner that would not automatically energize lights upon removal from stowage rack.

Firefighters outfits shall comply with the fire systems safety code. PSCO observed SCBA bottles not immediately ready for use and firemans suit missing strap. Crew replaced jacket and stored SCBA bottles ready for use. -10C
