Intrinsically safe electrical equipment and wiring may be fitted in all gas-dangerous spaces and zones as defined in 1.3.17. PSCO observed 03 intrinsically safe lights on deck near the cargo heater, starboard side, with water intrusion calling into question the integrity of the lights.

Electrical equipment, cables and wiring should not be installed in hazardous locations unless it conforms with the standards not inferior to those acceptable to the Organization. PSCO observed multiple cable glands on the tank tops, which serve as temperature sensors, to be loose and wrapped with gray electrical tape. Multiple lights near the cargo heater were found to have wasted bonding cables. PSCO did not finish COC exam as Class must address the electrical hazards on deck. Deficiency must be rectified Prior to Cargo and Prior to Departure. SOLAS VII/13.1 93 IGC 10/10.1.4

Resolution: Class provided report attesting to repairs. PSCO attended vessel and verified all repairs as well as finished all exams. All deficient items satisfactory.
