Issued 5 October 2019 Resolved
Main and auxiliary machinery essential for the propulsion, control, and safety of the ship shall be provided with effective means for its operation and control. Vessel lost pilothouse and engine room control while conducting engine checks prior to departure. The only remaining form of engine control is local control. No other effective means are available to control the engine if local control malfunctions. Vessel is fully loaded with crude oil with a draft of 12.3m. SOLAS (14) II-1/ 31.5.1
Condition: Design Flaw
Action required: 60 - Rectify deficiencies prior to movement
Resolved 6 October 2019
Resolution: A technician serviced the engine controls and reset the system. Engine controls are now functioning properly on the bridge and in the engine room.
