Repairs or alterations to the hull that affect the safety of the vessel must not be made without the approval of the cognizant OCMI. Vessel rep reported during a regular scheduled haul-out of the vessel resistance abnormalities in way of the starboard generator keel cooler through contact with the hull. Pitting was observed after removal of the keel cooler. On 1/4 inch plate aluminum pitting up to 1/8 inch was observed. Make permanent repairs in accordance with submitted plan CG Marine Inspector. Keep CG Marine Inspector informed of required, fit-up, NDT and repair stages.
