Within 12 hours before departure, the ship's steering gear shall be checked and tested by the ship's crew. The test procedure shall include, where applicable, the operation of the following: the rudder angle indicators in relation to the actual position of the rudder. During the test of the ship's steering gear, PSCOs observed all rudder angle indicators, while all matching, did not accurately match the accurate position of the rudder. 74 SOLAS (20) V/26.1.6

Resolution: Received satisfactory class report stating all rudder angle indicators match and accurately reflect the rudder angle.
