The O/O reported a loss of power on its STBD engine while in operations. A final causal factor is to be reported to USCG MI and a repair proposal is to be submitted.

Repairs or alterations to the hull, machinery, or equipment that affect the safety of the vessel must not be made without the approval of the cognizant OCMI, except during an emergency. Proposed alterations must be approved by the OCMI before work is started. The OCMI may require an inspection and testing whenever a repair or alteration is undertaken. Vessel reported loss of electrical power while underway in service. Prior to Carriage of Passengers, submit Causal Analysis report of power loss and repair proposal for OCMI review & approval. Upon repair plan approval, complete repairs and testing / verification to satisfaction of MI's. 46 CFR 115.700

Resolved 12 July 2024
Resolution: The generator return lines were removed and inspected. Significant buildup was found restricting the fuel return line check valves and causing back pressure. This was due to degrading rubber gaset in the fuel tank. Gasket material was replaced.
