Oil residue (sludge) may be disposed of directly from the oil residue (sludge) tanks to reception facilities through the standard discharge connection...or to any other approved means of disposal...which shall be anotated in item 32 of the supplement to the iopp certificate Form A. PSCO observed vessel was recording evaporation as a means of disposal of oil residues (sludge) in their oil record book. Evaporation was not recorded on the vessel's IOPP Form A as an acceptable means of disposal. MARPOL I/12.2
