Fire Fighting › Fixed Fire Detection System › Flame Detectors

0715 - Detection-The function of fixed fire detection and fire alarm systems shall be periodically tested to the satisfaction of the Admin by means of equipment producing hot air at the appropriate temperature, or smoke or aerosol particles having the appropriate range of density or particle size, or other phenomena associated with incipient fires to which the detector is designed to respond. PSCO observed crew testing flame detectors with a lighter, which is not approved means in the testing procedures. Vessel provided heat lamp does not meet the required testing criteria for the detectors. Crew provided requisition for appropriate heat lamp IAW manufacturer's specifications for the detectors. SOLAS 74 (a) 2014 Cons. II-2/7.3.2 10c
