Each ring life buoy with a floating waterlight must have a lanyard of at least 910 millimeters (3 feet) in length, but not more than 1,830 millimeters (6 feet); on a vessel carrying only one ring buoy, must be attached to the lanyard with a corrosion-resistant clip. The clip must have a strength of at least 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds), and allow the waterlight to be quickly disconnected from the ring life buoy. When repairs are made during an emergency, the owner, managing operator, or master shall notify the OCMI as soon as practicable after such repairs or alternations are made. Vessel owner disabled internal 396 gallon gasoline tank and the installed vapor detection system. The gasoline tank was then filled with water. Two 24 gallon polyethylene fuel tanks where then installed and plummed using rubber fuel hose in the passenger seating area without approval from the cognizant [name withheld] is required that the cause of the fuel vapor leak be determined and a repair proposal for the determined leak be submitted and approved by the cognizant OCMI prior to repairs being carried out. Prior to carriage of passengers the fuel tank repair and proper operation of the required vapor detection system must be proven to attending CG Marine Inspector. 46CFR176.700
