The following fire protection systems shall be kept in good order so as to ensure their required performance if a fire occurs, fire detection and fire alarm systems. PSCO observed several faults on fire detection system panel stating the detector listed had "dirty sensors"

Maintanence, testing, and inspection shall be carried out based on guidance and in a manner having due regard to ensuring the reliability of fire fighting systems and appliances. PSCO observed crew was unable to test several fire detectors. Crew did not seem familiar with proper testing and was unable to produce proper testing equipment.

Before the ship leaves port and at all times during voyage, all life-saving appliances shall be in working order and ready for immediate use. PSCO observed the hoses for the bilge pump inside a freefall lifeboat were dry rotted and not properly connected to overboard valve.
