Machinery space bilge alarm was found inoperable. Repair or replace.

The part of the exhaust system between the point of cooling water injection and the engine manifold must be water-jacketed or effectively insulated and protected in compliance with §§ 177.405(b) and 177.970 of this chapter. Exhaust lagging was found severally damaged resulting in exposed exhaust piping. Replace exhaust lagging to the satisfaction of a marine inspector.

At each inspection for certification and at every other vessel inspection the bilges and other spaces may be examined to see that there is no excessive accumulation of oil, trash, debris, or other matter that might create a fire hazard, clog bilge pumping systems, or block emergency escapes. Machinery Space was found with an excessive accumulation of oily water in the bilge. In addition, there were multiple containers of unsecured engine oil found along the bottom of the bilge. Clean Machinery Space bilge and ensure proper stowage of oil containers to the satisfaction of a marine inspector.
