If a ship has any watch or workstations which are located remotely from the place where immersion suits are normally located, additional immersions suits of an appropriate size shall be provided at these locations for the number of people normally on watch or working at these locations; There are not enough proper fitting immersion suits in the engine room for the people normally working in that space. Three immersion suits are needed in this space.

74 SOLAS (04) II-2 / 9.2.3.3.2.2; Where the contents and use of a space are such that there is a doubt as to its classification for the purpose of this regulation, or where it is possible to assign two or more classifications to a space, it shall be treated as a space within the relevant category having the most stringent boundary requirements; The vessel is using the steering gear room (listed as a Category 7 space on the vessel’s structural fire protection plan) as a Category 9 space to store large amounts of bunker samples. Additionally the bulkhead between the steering gear space and the machinery space is an A-0 boundary and not the required A-60 boundary.
