Dampers may not be fitted in a supply duct. Provision must be made for closing all supply duct cowls or scoops and exhaust duct discharge openings for a space protected by a fixed gas extinguishing system. Inspector discovered a damper in the supply ducts for the port and STBD engine rooms. Provide a means of closure from outside the space and remove the dampers. Submit plans to local OCMI for approval prior to making any modifications/repairs.

The installation and location must be to the satisfaction of the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection. Inspector discovered they are no fire extinguishers on the second deck where they are multiple operating stations, hydraulic machinery, and gasoline storage. Provide a 40-B:C installed on the second deck.
