All the steering gear components shall be of sound and reliable construction to the satisfaction of the administration. During outbound transit, vessel experienced a loss of steering due to a faulty magnetic contactor, UMC 225, for th #1 steering gear motor. Vessel's crew was able to replace faulty parts with spares. PSCO tested steering from steering gear room and navigation bridge. All satisfactory. 74 SOLAS (20) II-1/29.2.1

Resolved 19 September 2021
Resolution: Burned out electrical connectors were replaced with spares that were kept on board and satisfactorily tested by attending Marine Inspector.
