The life raft painter system shall provide a connection between he ship & life raft & shall be arranged to ensure that the life raft is not dragged under by the sinking ship. The painter on one of the port side inflateable life rafts wa not installed a the weak link & would not have inflated the life raft if the ship sank. 74 SOLAS Reg 34 / LSA 4.1.6.1
