Whenever a defect is discovered, either of which affects the safety of the ship or the efficiency or completeness of its equipment, the master or owner of the ship shall report at the earliest opportunity to Administration, or recognized organization responsible for issuing the relevant certificate, who shall cause investigations to be initiated to determine whether a survey, as required. In cargo ships of 1,000 gross tonnage and upwards, the number of fire hoses to be provided shall be one for each 30 m length of the ship and one spare, but in no case less than five in all. The ring, lines and letters shall be painted in white or yellow on a dark ground or in black on a light ground. The Administration shall take appropriate steps to ensure uniformity in the implementation and application of the provisions of this part in respect of electrical installations. With the exception of cables for portable appliances and those installed in pipes, conduits, trunkings or special casings, cables shall be fixed by means of clips, saddles or straps of suitable material which if ignited, shall not contribute to any spread of flame along the cables or insulated wire. The material shall have a surface area sufficiently large and be shaped such that the cables remain tight without their coverings being damaged. The revised Nox Technical Code 2008 shall be applied in the certification, testing, and measurement procedures for the standards set forth in this regulation. If this survey confirms compliance, the Administration shall issue an Engine International Air Pollution Prevention (EIAPP) Certificate. Vessel does not have valid EIAPP onboard. Every ship shall be provided with documentary evidence, to the satisfaction of the Administration, of its fitness to operate with periodically unattended machinery spaces. Vessel to verify accuracy and validity of PSTPs within one year of operation. 74 SOLAS (2020) II-1/46.3

The purpose of this regulation is to provide additional safety measures in order to address the fire safety objectives of this chapter for ships carrying dangerous goods. For this purpose, the following functional requirements shall be met: .1 fire protection systems shall be provided to protect the ship from the added fire hazards associated with carriage of dangerous goods. The condition of the ship and its equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that the ship in all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to the ship or persons on board.
