A nozzle on a vessel of not more than 19.8 meters (65 feet) in length carrying more than 49 passengers, and on a vessel of more than 19.8 meters (65 feet) in length, must:(1) Be of a type approved in accordance with approval series 162.027; or(2) Be of a type recognized by the Commandant as being equivalent in performance. Fire hose nozzle replaced with an approved nozzle on the spot. 46 CFR 181.320 (d)(1)

Vessel’s initial construction completed & verified. Prior to carrying passengers for hire managing operator must ensure vessel ready to be placed into service as required by 46 CFR 176.402(c). A “new to zone” COI inspection must be conducted with the cognizant OCMI, as required by 46 CFR 176.840. Scope of the exam is not limiting, although primary intent is for operator & cognizant OCMI Marine inspector(s) to confirm all operator items (Documents, Pubs, Crew Drills, etc.) are compliant & vessel fit for the intended route and service. Once satisfied a new five-year COI must issue by the cognizant OCMI.
