The total relieving capacity of pressure vessel relief valves must prevent pressure from exceeding the MAWP, as established by the manufacturer, by more than 10 percent. The gauge on the air receiver had too small of a range and would peg out before reaching 10% above MAWP, it should have a an upper range of 1.2-2 times the relief valve setting.
