The condition of the ship and its equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that the ship in all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to the ship or persons on board. During inbound transit to the Delaware River, DE, the pilot reported that the vessel’s S-Band Radar became temporarily inoperable. After crew troubleshooting, the radar is now fully operational and has passed safety tests attested to by the pilot [name withheld] requires a class report to verify that the S-Band Radar is in good working order.
Action required: 50 - Rectify deficiencies w/in 30 days

13103 (Propulsion and Auxiliary Machinery- Gauges, thermometers, etc) The machinery, boilers, and other pressure vessels, associated piping systems and fittings shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended and shall be so installed and protected as to reduce to a minimum any danger to persons onboard, due regard being paid to moving parts, hot surfaces and other hazards. PSCO observed No. 4 generator C.W. (L.T.) Pressure gauge to be inoperable. Additionally, on fuel oil purifier No. 3 both the intake pressure gauge and output pressure gauge were inoperable. 74 SOLAS (04) II-1/26.2
