A permanently installed system of gas detection and audible and visual alarms should be provided for:

.2 cargo compressor rooms;
.3 motor rooms for cargo handling machinery;

.5 other enclosed spaces in the cargo area where vapor may accumulate including hold and inter barrier spaces for independent tanks other than type C tanks.
PSCO observed inoperable fixed gas detection system. When supplied with 50% LEL propane gas, system failed to read above 0% LEL. PSCO observed repeated flow fault alarms due to analyzing pump failures. Analyzing pump cooling fan was inoperable and pump was extremely hot to the touch. Additionally when running pump vibrates excessively.

PSCO observed both exhaust fans for the cargo compressor room ventilation with exposed wiring and improperly installed wire packing glands. Additionally, 03 light installations near the manifolds were found with exposed wiring and improper wire splices covered with electrical tape.
