02105 - Propulsion machinery must be suitable for route and service. Vessel reported a steering casualty affecting the port steering ram and hose, whereby the support bracket connecting the steering ram to the main deck was reported to be torn off, and approximately 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid was reported spilled/lost from the hydraulic system. Make permanent repairs to the satisfaction of the attending TPO (ABS) surveyor.
Action required: 60 - Rectify deficiencies prior to movement

Resolution: As documented in ABS report no. 5314597, a new support bracket was fabricated and welded/installed onboard. Both steering rams were replaced with OEM spare parts. Dock and sea trials were carried out to the satisfaction of the TPO (ABS).

Machinery and Electrical systems must be designed and maintained to provide for safe operation of the towing vessel and safety of persons onboard under normal and emergency conditions. Vessel reported a loss of steering due to a busted hydraulic hose in steering system.

Resolution: Cleared deficiency based on objective evidence in ABS report no. 4522838 of replacement of hydraulic hose and functional test of steering system to the satisfaction of attending ABS surveyor.
