Vessel reported a steering casualty affecting the port steering ram and hose, whereby the support bracket connecting the steering ram to the main deck was reported to be torn off, and approximately 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid was reported spilled/lost from the hydraulic system. Make permanent repairs to the satisfaction of the attending TPO (ABS) surveyor.

Resolution: As documented in ABS report no. 5314597, a new support bracket was fabricated and welded/installed onboard. Both steering rams were replaced with OEM spare parts. Dock and sea trials were carried out to the satisfaction of the TPO (ABS).
