Immediately after the addressing of resultant safety concerns, the owner, agent, master, or person in charge of a vessel involved in a marine casualty shall notify the nearest Sector Office. Company self reported hull puncture on starboard side between waterline and rub-rail. Prior to the carriage of passengers, the company must submit a satisfactory repair proposal. 46 CFR 185.202(a)

13 May 2021, at approximately 2027L, the NYC Ferry vessel CYCLONE SHARK (O.N. 1302969) was in the process of approaching Pier 6 in the NY Harbor to pick up/offload passengers, when the vessel allided with a moored construction barge RTC NO 380. The CYCLONE SHARK set into a flooding current next to the Pier and to avoid it, reversed the vessel while the flood tide shifted the vessel to port, into the RTC NO 380. After making contact, the Master tried to pivot off the barge and became stuck against the barge and pier. The Master called his superior to help with the situation and the Master was able to remove the vessel from the stuck position. The vessel then maneuvered back into the harbor to loop and come back into Pier 6 to offload passengers. No injuries to passengers or crew. The CYCLONE SHARK had visible damage to the port stern railing and broke all but one window on the port side main deck, no damage to the RTC NO 380.
