In tankers, electrical equipment, cables and wiring shall not be installed in hazardous locations unless it conforms with the standards not inferior to those acceptable to the Organization. PSCO found two open cable galnds on EX rated light fixtures in place of terminations approved by IEC. Additionally, all cable glands on pump room light fixtures that was sampled by PSCO were loose and easily removable by hand and did not fully compress gland. Vessel's crew noted that these items were delivered this way by the shipyard and vessel's crew has not yet altered any of the pump room light fixtures. Ship's crew replaced open glands with proper termination caps and tightened all loose glands.
