Each lifeboat shall be provided with an appliance which is capable of launching and recovering the lifeboat. The port and starboard lifeboats, upon recovery, were unable to to be lifted into the fully stowed position. The wire rope slipped causing the lifeboat to fall approximately 40 cm. This malfunction was observed during the recovery of both lifeboats. 74SOLAS(14) III/16.2 ; 17ac

Resolution: Witnessed lowering of stbd and port life boats with no issues. ABS surveyor was in attendance. Received class report.
