A hatch exposed to the weather must be watertight. MI found 4+ft of water in both stbd and port fwd void spaces. Remove water and replace gaskets to satisfaction of USCG marine inspector. 46 CFR 179.360

Repairs or alterations to the hull, machinery, or equipment that affect the safety of the vessel must not be made without the approval of the cognizant OCMI, except during an emrgency. The owner or managing operator shall submit drawings, sketches, or written specifications describing the details of any proposed alterations to the cognizant [name withheld] to outboards must be approved by the OCMI. 46 CFR 182.200

A vessel not required to have a power driven fire pump must have at least three, 2.5 gal buckets with an attached lanyard...One fire bucket was broken. Replace fire bucket.

A visual indicator must be provided at the op station to indicate when any automatic bilge pump is operating. Port, forward bilge pump indicator light did not illumincate upon testing. Repair and prove proper operation.

The person in command of a documented vessel must have on board the original COD...Copy of COD currently in effect provided onboard. Locate original COD and place on vessel.

Each survival craft must be secured to the vessel by a painter with a float-free link permanently attached to the vessel. Float free hydrostatic release unit secured with zip ties to vessel.

...Drills and training shall be logged...the drill entry shall include a general description of the drill scenario and training topics. Drill log lacked a description of the drill scenario/training topics.

A loading mark required by paragraph (c)(2) of this section must be a horizontal line of at least 205 millimeters (8 inches) in length and 25 millimeters (1 inch) in height, with its upper edge passing through the point of maximum draft. The loading mark must be painted in a contrasting color to the sideshell paint. Proplerly place loading marks onto vessels hull at the next dry dock. NLT 31 MAR 2024 / 46 CFR 185.602

Mandatory chemical testing following serious marine incidents. A marine employer whose vessel is involved in a casualty or incident that is, or is likely to become, a serious marine incident as defined in § 4.03-2 of subchapter A of this chapter shall comply with the requirements of § 4.06 in subchapter A of this chapter. Replace expired ALCO test strips. 46 CFR 185.212

A vessel must carry one floating waterlight, unless it is limited to daytime operation, in which case no floating waterlight is required. Vessels life ring buoy floating light does not have batteries installed. Install proper batteries and test float light. 46 CFR 180.70

Each life jacket, immersion suit, and ring life buoy must be marked in clearly legible block capital letters with the vessel's name. The marking is not required on a life jacket carried to meet a temporary need for additional life jackets, if the life jacket has the name of another vessel or company marked on it. For an immersion suit, the name of the person to whom the immersion suit is assigned is an acceptable alternative to the name of the vessel. One child life jacket missing vessels name, stencil vessels name onto the same. 46 CFR 185.604.

A person may not employ or engage an individual in a position required to hold an MMC unless that individual maintains a current medical certificate. Medical certificates must be issued and will remain current for the following periods of time, unless otherwise noted on the certificate: (1) Two years for individuals serving on vessels to which STCW applies unless the mariner is under the age of 18, in which case the maximum period of validity will be 1 year. (2) Five years for all other mariners. Master did not have his medical certificate onboard at time of the inspection. Provide MC at all time while operating under the capciity of master MMC. 46 CFR 15.401

Vessel is required to carry survival craft IAW its COI. Vessel does not currently have IBAs onboard due to servicing. 46 CFR 180.200

Hydrostatic release unit is required to be replaced every 2 years. Hydrostatic release unit for the EPIRB expired 7/21. 46 CFR 185.740(b)

Each vessel must be marked with permanent draft marks at each end of the vessel or have permanent loading marks placed on each side of the vessel forward and aft to indicate the max allowable trim and amidships to indicate the max allowable draft. No hull markings present. Permanently mark vessel during next drydock.

Fuel shut off valves shall be labeled. Properly label diesel heater fuel tank shut off valves. 46 CFR 185.608

Vessel required to carry current year navigation publications & manuals. Vessel tide and current tables are not up-to-date. 46 CFR 184.420(a)
