The fixed gas detection equipment shall be so designed that it may be readily tested. The ship's crew attempted to test the fixed gas detection system several times using 50% LEL Gas (Methane) supplied to the gas-analyzing cabinet sample pick-up. The system shuts down, as designed, when it detects 30% LEL in the cabinet. Therefore, the crew is unable to show the analyzer correctly measures gas supplied to it. - 74 SOLAS ('14 cons.) Resolution: Received, reviewed, and accepted a class report from ABS stating that the two deficiencies identified during the COC exam were rectified. The class report is uploaded into "documents".
