Each vessel must be provided with a visual and audible alarm at the operating station to indicate a high water level in spaces listed in 46 CFR 119.530. Due to concrete ballast installed in the bow thruster space, high water cannot be detected in the forward of the space or between the tunnels. Install alarms to indicate high water by next required dry dock exam.

Each inlet that penetrates the hull below the waterline must have a means to prevent water from entering the vessel and to make them watertight. Although the penetration has a valve installed, there is no attached piping or system to the valve that would prevent water intrusion if the valve is opened or fails. Ensure watertight integrity by installing a blank flange to the open end of the hull penetration piping.

The owner or managing operator shall provide satisfactory evidence of required servicing of portable fire extinguisher. Two portable extinguishers in forward machinery space had not been serviced. Service fire extinguishers.

Each life jacket must be marked clearly legible block capital letters with the vessel's name. Several life jackets were found to be missing labels. Label life jackets.
