AIS shall provide automatically to appropriately equipped shore stations, other ships and aircraft information, including the ship's identity, type, position, course, speed, navigational status and other safety-related information. Vessel reported AIS error codes reducing transmission range at sea but not impacting tracking or transit within 5NM.
