Every company should develop, implement, and maintain a safety management system which includes the following functional requirements: instructions and procedures to ensure safe operation of ship. Vessel failed to implement it's SMS w/respect to cyber risk management. Vessel had file "Computer Credentials" with passwords in clear text. USB drive used to update ECDIS software was unencrypted and kept in plain view and easily accessed. ECDIS system lacked USB blocker and required no password to install file from USB. Conduct internal audit to ensure cyber hygiene is implemented on vessel.
Condition: Improper/Lack of Maintenance
Action required: 40 - Rectify deficiencies prior to next US port after sailing foreign

Resolution: Vessel management conducted an internal audit to address and resolve deficiencies. The deficiency is closed.
