Each vessel 10000 gross tons or more must have, in addition to the radar system under 164.35(a), a second marine radar system that operates interdependently of the first. Vessel reported both X band and S band radars not functioning as designed with inaccurate readings. Vessel must provide technician report and class report attesting to proper function of both X Band and S Band radars prior to departure.
