There must be an installed or portable bilge pump for emergency dewatering. Any portable pump must have sufficient hose length and pumping capability. The vessel's submersible bilge pump was stored in the forepeak with no available extension cord to reach spaces that would require dewatering in an emergency. Store bilge pump and adequate length of extension cord in a readily available location that would not require emergency dewatering.
