The Load line ring, lines and letters shall be painted white or yellow on a dark background or in black on a light background. They shall also be permanently marked. PSCO observed the Load Line mark not painted in contrasting colors.

Except for hatches between cargo, special category, store, and baggage spaces, and between such spaces and the weather decks, openings shall be provided with permanently attached means of closing which shall be at least as effective for resisting fires as the divisions in which they fitted. PSCO observed self-closing door leading to category 2 escape trunk not fully closed compromising the boundary.

Where the contents and use of a space are such that there is a doubt as to its classification for the purpose of this regulation, or wher it is possible to assgin two or more classifications to a space, it shall be treated as a space within the relevant category having the most stringent boundary requirements. PSCO observed loose oxygen bottles in AC room adjacent to EDG room.

The means of escape, including stairways and exits, shall be marked by lighting or photoluminescent strip indicators placed not more than 300 mm above the deck at all points of the escape route, including angles and intersectios. The marking must enable passengers/crew to identify the routes of escape and readily identify the escape exits. Additionaly, escape route signs and fire equipment location markings shall be of photoliminescent material or marked by lighting. PSCO observed defective low location lighting by crew barber P/S corridor on deck 3.

Resolution: Low location lighting section was fixed on the spot.

Aids for escape shall be provided as necessary to ensure accessibility, clear marking, and adequate design for emergency situations. Inadequate emergency signage found in the boiler room and uniform shop to facilitate escape from the space. Additional exit signage required for both boiler and uniform shop.

Resolution: Vessel Safety Officer provided extra escape route signage for both spaces. PSCO's verified new signage was added.
