A gas carrier shall comply with the requirements of the International Gas Carrier Code. Electrical equipment which is not of the certified safe type in spaces protected by airlocks should be de-energized by loss overpressure. PSCO discovered 04 electrical lights not certified safe in the motor room and 10 lights lighting the switch board did not secure when both airlock doors were opened. Deficiency must be rectified prior to cargo operations. 74 SOLAS (20) VII/13.1 – 93 IGC Code 3.6.4

Resolved 18 July 2024
Resolution: The crew made repairs, and the Class Surveyor can attest that all circuits not certified safe are secured when there is a loss of differential pressure from the air lock in the Motor Room.

A gas carrier shall comply with the requirements of the International Gas Carrier Code. An audible and visual alarm system to give warning on both sides of the airlock should be provided to indicate if more than one door is moved from the closed position. PSCO discovered airlock audible alarm inoperable when both doors are open.

Resolution: Crew repaired prior to end of inspection. PSCO observed and cleared prior to leaving the vessel.
