A towing vessel of at least 26 feet, but less than 79 feet, in length must carry a minimum of two lifebuoys located on opposite sides of the vessel where personnel are normally present. Lifebuoys must be at least 610 millimeters (24 inches) in diameter. Lifebuoys not installed on each side of main operating station.

Each new vessel must meet the applicable stability requirements of part 170 and, if applicable, of part 173, subpart E, of this chapter in addition to the requirements in the following table: Watertight door in watertight transverse bulkhead from engine room to forward hold was stuck in closed position and did not have a dog wrench available. Adjust door to ensure proper operation.

Means must be provided for stopping each fan in a ventilation system serving machinery spaces and for closing, in case of fire, each doorway, ventilator, and annular space around funnels and other openings into such spaces. Crew members are unable to secure ventilation due to the location of the hold back.
