Openings in decks accessible to personnel must be covered, guarded, or otherwise made inaccessible when not in use. The manner of blockage shall prevent a person's foot or body from inadvertently passing through the opening. Duty MI received notification that crew member fell through opening in BOP maintenance platform on 29MAR2024. Member was able to pass through opening in platform falling approximately 8-9 feet, due to grating being missing and not installed. Member was Medevac from ship and required to be seen at onshore medical facility for treatment. Platform shall not placed in any position or manner that will allow personnel access or allow use for any operations on board vessel. Action code is only restricting operations to the referenced platform, all other operations remain as before. Platform may be placed back in use once repairs are made and documentation is provided to the satisfaction of Coast Guard. 33CFR142.87
